She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Sleep and food

By the end of yesterday, the plumbing and below-house woodwork were finished, and there’s temporary plywood over the hole. When the linoleum comes in next week, we can finish the project. We have a new toilet, and we know what vanity/sink we need to get. On the downside, the clawfoot tub will need to be sandblasted and refinished on the outside (we turned it around so the plumbing would be in the right place, and the back half of it is unpainted and a bit rusty in places).

We didn’t need to set an alarm this morning, and blissfully slept in, then went out for breakfast. I had muchaca: shredded beef, onions, and bell peppers with scrambled eggs, along with refried beans, cheese, salsa, sour cream, and tortillas. I do like Roxsbury Deli; I can tell it’s going to be one of our favourite places.

Then we went food shopping, which has been necessary for quite some time. It’s hard to buy lots of food when I know we have to take everything out of the kitchen and utility porch (everything that touches the ground, that is—fridge, stove, Hoosier cabinet, etc.) next week. I haven’t unpacked a good deal of the kitchen items, so it’s hard to cook. I have pots and frying pans, but no in-stove pans.

Not that I want to cook, anyway. But it’s nice to have food, and the option.
