Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

More good news!

Okay, deep breath. I got home from Yule-decortation shopping with Morgana to find an e-mail from the editor of the novella line, asking me to call her. After info from my two friends who were also finalists, it sounds like I didn’t win (unless there’s more than one winner), but she praised both friends’ writing and wanted to see more from them.

Eep. Eek. Meep.

So here’s the plan. Tonight I write pitches (1-2-sentence long blurbs about novels) in case I have the chance to throw any at the editor. Tomorrow morning I’ll call her, and also Sarah if I have time, to see if I can pitch our co-written novel to the editor. In the hopper I have a synopsis for another novel, and ideas for one or two more.

After the call, I’ll go to B&N and work on a work-for-hire proposal I need to do research for. I also have various antho stories to keep me busy over the next few days (weeks, actually—this was what I was going to do after I finished the novella anyway).

Deep breaths…

Great, now Phaedra and I have realised that our BattleTech characters are from the same time period, and we’re trying to figure out a way to co-write a story about them. My character is probably going to assassinate her character. This is just too much fun.
