Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Mostly boring writing stuff

words written: ~2000

So, I realised that today is the absolute last day I had to work on the Magic proposal, since it has to be in the mail tomorrow (and sent 2nd-day) to arrive on time. (I suppose in case of dire emergency I could wait one more day and send it overnight, but I also have other projects to work on!). Over the past couple days I’ve let my subconscious phutz with the problem of how to redo things, and it all started to fit together today. I did have to stop halfway through the new synopsis to take a shower and think more things through, but I’m happy to report that the thing’s done. Ken’s going to read it for egregious errors (like dropped sentences and the like—things that happen when you move chunks of material around, delete some, etc.) and typos, and then it’ll be ready to go. Phew. Another big project to cross off my list.

We were going to take a nice walk to the library and post office today, but our tenant was having sink troubles, and Ken ended up spending the afternoon fixing it (along with a trip to Home Depot). She never complains, and the apartment needs a fair amount of work, so it wasn’t an issue or problem on our end. As it turned out, I needed that time to glare at the Magic proposal.

This evening, we watched some British mysteries (what would I do without BBC America, I wonder) and I edited down a short story to send to an anthology (it was longer than the guidelines). Wahoo. Writing is Good.
