Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Lack of ironing

Words Written: “En Garde”: 1050

Ugh. So much for feeling better. My limbs felt like wet noodles today. Ken says I’m overdoing it. By what?! Sitting in front of Afalwen and trying to squeeze out a few words? Phaedra says I’m lacking iron. Who knows? I’ve never been one much for ironing. Irony?

Anyway.

Worked on Black Oak stuff in the early afternoon, and managed to eke out a few words in late afternoon. Most of the above was written after supper, which lately seems to be my best writing time. Really, if I could become nocturnal, I would. But the rest of the world resists my efforts, and I’m useless without proper sleep.

But, hey, go me! I did write today. And I will write tomorrow. I’ve got one more chapter of AETW to review before I can press on, and thankfully I know what happens next, for quite a bit, actually. And there are several other anthologies I want to hit by the end of the month.

I have a hair appt tomorrow, which means I’ll get out of the house and interact with another person besides Ken for the first time in more than a week. Groovy. Thursday evening is lick-n-stick for the local newsletter, and then we leave Friday for three days of motorcycle playing in Death Valley—also groovy. I just need to be well by then. And figure out if I can get any writing done while we’re there… (I can’t find the hotsync cradle for my Palm, so I can’t use it and the keyboard. Drat it all.)

Goddammital now I have the hiccups.

Currently Reading: There and Back Again, Sean Astin; Black Gate, Fall 2004

Lately Listened To: The Good Catches Up, Gowan

Recently Watched: “Young Blades”, which our friend Gillian is the staff writer for. Woo! Fun, silly, semi-fantasy kids’ show. I’m already half in love with the inventor Musketeer; “Medium”, a totally kick-ass show that I’m in love with and want to write media books for.
