Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Cracking napping

Words Written: “What Price Beauty?” redraft: 1640

Wow. My brain was mush after yesterday’s word count. Phae read it last night, I made edits this morning, and it’s been sent. It’s 8000 words. Egads.

Ken was so sweet about it. I felt awful that I abandoned him, but he kept telling me not to feel guilty and to get the writing done because that’s what I was here for.

He left early this morning. He plans to play around on the fun back roads and end up in Sacramento for the weekly dinner get-together. He’ll head home tomorrow.

Now I need to get cracking on the second anthology story rewrite. But I’d rather take a nap. Oh, woe is me.

I ended up napping. It became a necessity, and it helped a lot.

We went out to dinner tonight to celebrate Phaedra’s novel contract (her first sale, a two-book deal). I have lots of yummy shrimp scampi for breakfast tomorrow. Mmmmm.

I didn’t get as far on the story as I’d have liked, but I did okay. It’s finally moving. I’ll finish it up tomorrow morning/early afternoon, and have Phaedra and Louisa read through it. I can mail it as late as Friday morning, before the Novel Workshop starts.
