Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Accomplished?

Words Written: “Slow Burn”: ~780 and edited; 3 stories mailed

Finished “Slow Burn”, but I still have to do an editing pass and write a closure scene. I have to dash off to inventory the Shire shed in preparation for Black Oak Lodge, because nobody did it after last year’s event. Argh. At least it’s stopped raining; the sky is blue and sunny. Of course, if it were still raining, I could postpone the inventory…

Turns out just about everybody else forgot about the Styx tickets going on sale. The one person who did try to buy as soon as the sale started couldn’t find decent seats. I’m still bummed that I’m going to so few concerts this year, but at least I’m not missing out on the group experience. (I will, however, spend part of the summer moping that I’m not following them around the UK and Germany. Now they tour the UK, fine.)

Inventory went far quicker than I expected, which was nice. It allowed us to come up and watch an episode of “Battlestar Galactica”, because Morgana and Brian are coming over for dinner and to watch the last two episodes, and we had one to catch up.

All right, then. “Slow Burn” off to Teresa. I did a little research on where to send queries for AETW. I did a little research on White Wolf/World of Darkness for their contest. I set up a mini tape recorder that I borrowed so I can transcribe the tape of my critique from the Novel Workshop.

I accomplished far, far less than I needed to this weekend. But at least I accomplished some things.

Next week will be another busy one. Sigh.
