Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

500 words (not miles)

Words Written: Animal Attractions: a little more than 500, plus some notes on another Brava idea

I decided yesterday that my birthday present to myself was to write at least 500 words/day (2 pp/day). I know several writers who do this, including one whom I believe has done it since we took the Master’s Class in March ’02. That’s 2 pp every day for 3 years. That’s a lot of words. (It’s also math, which you can do yourself.) There’s no reason why I shouldn’t be able to do at least 2 measly pages a day.

And I started two days early, yesterday. Yesterday was easy. Tonight, however, Ken was starting my birthday celebrations early. It was nearly midnight by the time I finished my pages, in bed, on Afalwen. But I got them done!

Tomorrow’s going to be tough, because it’s my actual birthday (and who knows what he has planned?!), plus he’s coming up to take me out to lunch, so any lunch break work won’t be possible.

But hey, it’ll be my birthday. Hitting the minimum 500 words will be fine!
