Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

The cats did it. Honest.

Words Written: CSF 0

[sigh] Overslept this morning. I woke up some time between 5 and 5:30 a.m., because I remember thinking happily that I had a good hour of sleep left. I woke up again at 8:05. I’m firmly convinced the cats turned off the alarm. It was Eostre’s idea, but she convinced Grimoire to do it, since he has the prehensile toes thing going on.

So no carpooling, which means no writing. I did listen to an RWA session, though, which makes me feel like I’m doing something positive on the writing front.

That clinches the final decision on whether to go to the event this weekend or not. The answer is “not”. It’ll be heads-down working for me. And that’s okay; it’s what I want to do, not just what I need to do.

That’s not to say I won’t get any writing done tonight, but it’s not the easiest thing to do. I try to eat as soon as I can after I get home, so I have time to properly digest before bed. Once I’ve changed, made dinner, eaten dinner, done the dishes, fed the cats, and watered the plants, and talked to Ken, I usually don’t have a lot of time—and there’s always some e-mail stuff that needs to be dealt with, too.

But I’ll try. And thank goodness it’s almost Friday!

I wrote a really whiny couple of paragraphs, and then deleted them. All I needed was the act of writing them, I think. I do feel better now. Thanks for asking! ;-)

Phew! I’m down to 8 messages in my In Box, 3 of which will be answered tonight and a couple more I’d like to deal with as well (they’re of the “reminder” variety). I have 7 in the Drafts folder, at least 1 of which will be answered tonight.

But then there are the Tonight and Weekend folders. I do pop in every so often to check mail during the day from work, and if a message is something to look up, read, click on, or otherwise not something that requires an answer, it goes in one of those two folders, depending on when I think I’ll be able to deal with it, or when it’ll be appropriate to deal with it. They’re getting kinda full, and I should probably start dealing with one or two e-mails a day until they’re cleared out.

This has been brought to you by The Most Boring Entry on Earth Committee.

Urgh. Got home at 8:30, between leaving later than usual (because of getting in later than usual) and going to the pharmacy. I picked up Chinese at the restaurant/takeaway next to the pharmacy. No writing. Hopefully sleeping…

Sorry for the very nonthrilling entry today.
