Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Fugues and other states of mind and music

Words Written: “Rules of Association” 1339
Exercise: walking

I spent most of today finishing the damn story so it could be postmarked today. I slept poorly, woke up too early, and was exhausted, and I suspect part of my time in front of the computer was in a fugue state wherein I was sleeping with my eyes open. But I got it done and even had time to walk to the Post Office (less than a mile away) to get it postmarked. I also had a phone consultation with Teresa about our latest novel. And got a story rejection and more comments/revisions requests for the proposal for Sarah’s and my novel. It’s been a busy day, writing-wise, despite my intense desire to crawl into bed and not come back out until tomorrow.

Ken had some work stuff to do today, to, so we ended up revising our Valentine’s Day plans. We’ll go on a bike ride after I get back from Canada (which gives Ken time to install the intercom system in our new helmets, which we’ve had for months and months). We’ve had a nice breakfast and lunch together, and later we’ll curl up and order pizza and watch Say Anything. (And maybe Kill Bill Part 2, which arrived from Netflix today. Although I wouldn’t exactly call that a romance…)

Now I’m going to shower, and then finally get some ABC-CLIO work done…
