Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Ditching and dolphins

Words Written: ALNM none yet, but I’m off to get some done
Writing Stats: packaged another review copy of CSF to mail; conferred with Teresa and filled out a Sophie questionnaire at Virgin UK’s request

Errands, errands. Wednesday, after a 9 a.m. conference call that got delayed because one of the necessary attendees was in a meeting with the company president, I went to my chiro appt, and then Ken and I grabbed lunch at Daphne’s Greek Café before picking up his contacts and heading to the mall. I needed a silver chain for one of his birthday gifts to me—a custom silver Styx logo charm (all of the Heaux in the Kneaux have them!) and he wanted to look at covers for his phone. (He tends to beat his phones up.) After that, we bought me an office chair at Office Max (not the one I planned on buying, but a lovely dark reddish brown leather one) and various foodstuffs at Costco. Now we’re home, and I’ve made the phone calls I need to, so it’s down to writing, more work, and house cleaning/straightening in preparation for my parents’ arrival tomorrow.

I’ve added a new section above, Writing Stats. That’ll include anything other than word count (which I’ll keep separate)—rejections, acceptances, contracts received, etc. Let me know what you think!

My parents arrived safely today after uneventful flights, and were waiting when we got to LAX (we hit some construction on Hwy 1). I had to go to the bathroom, so I jumped out to run inside and do so. When I got back out, they were gone. I figured they’d been shooed along by the sour-looking traffic coordinator and had to loop back around the airport to get to me. Still, there was a moment of “Hey! My husband and my parents ditched me!”

I saw dolphins on the way there! Several groups! And a few on the way back, too! Alas, no time for pictures. But—dolphins!

I made lemon-garlic chicken for supper, with cabbage and brown rice, and now they’ve gone to bed and we’re pretty tired, so it’ll be an early night for us, too. I’d like to get a little writing done, and we’ll watch something (we gave my parents our bedroom and we’ll sleep in the media room—the sofabed’s nice and firm) and then crash.
