China is threatening to veto a revised U.S. draft resolution that would consider U.N. sanctions against against Sudan's oil industry if Khartoum does not rein in marauding militia fighters in its Darfur region, diplomats reported on Wednesday.

Why would they do such a thing?

Sudan began exporting oil in 1999 and produces an estimated 250,000 barrels per day. China is a key buyer.

Where is the outcry? Where are the protests?
