The Dark Architect Vs. The Sunny Southerner
Previous Entry :: Next Entry

That's how this Reuters story described Cheney and Edwards in discussing tomorrow's Vice Presidential debate:

Republican Cheney, portrayed by critics as the dark architect of the Iraq war, and Democrat Edwards, the sunny Southerner with the homespun style, meet in a 90-minute televised encounter that gained new importance after President Bush's widely panned performance against Sen. John Kerry last week.

And Bush's performance was "widely panned"? I think most people are conceding that Kerry did better than expected, but I haven't heard many people saying Bush did worse than expected.

I'm not one of those who decry "liberal media" (I think there's an abundance of media of all stripes), but this story was a pretty lame example of an individual story's bias.

I mean really..."the sunny Southerner with the homespun style"?

I take back what I said earlier. This piece is a better example of stink-ass prose than of bias.

All that said, I am looking forward to the debate tomorrow night.
