STHT
Previous Entry :: Next Entry

We are running Monday’s scheduled STHT today because of a special announcement made yesterday.

Re: yesterday’s statement, ST is happy to report we are back with full illustrations and appreciate viewers patience and understanding in this matter.

“A Few Moments With Dead Celebrities”, originally scheduled for today, will move back to Saturdays starting April 24th. Beginning next Tuesday, ST will present a new news interview program entitled “One On One with Connie Chung”.

Before we get to STHT we had to make a comment on two stories from the front page of the Business page in today’s Oregonian newspaper.

The headline reads “Evergreen will deliver to the Universe” and details how McMinnville Oregon’s Evergreen Air will fly and maintain SOFIA a 747 that is “the world’s largest airborne observatory”. The article states that Evergreen has built it’s reputation delivering spare parts and medical equipment to the U.S. Military in Kosovo and the Middle East. I guess the Oregonian is the only one who doesn’t know that Evergreen air is a CIA front company that spies domestically and internationally. God only knows what it’s “Airborne observatory” does.

And this: Jim Cantalupo, CEO of McDonald’s died of an apparent heart attack at a fast food convention in Florida yesterday. He was 60. A McDonald’s spokesman said “…international travel takes a toll on industry executives, resulting in numerous premature deaths.” Yeah, the CEO of McDonald’s dies of a heart attack resulting from international travel. OK, yeah, right.

And now here is that crap about DVD’s!

STHT

Here’s what’s new in new DVD/Video releases!

1. “Timeline” Directed by Richard (“Superman”, “Lethal Weapon”) Donner and based on a novel by Michael (“Jurassic Park”) Crichton comes this time travel sci fi adventure starring Paul (“Fast and Furious”) Walker. With all those names and credits how could this miss? I dunno, but it did… by a mile. It’s like Paramount got all the “talent” together and forgot to manufacture the product.

2. “Platoon, Special Edition” Oliver Stones Academy Award Winning gritty, bloody, look at Viet Nam arrives in stores with directors commentary and all kinds of bells and whistles. If Bush stays in office it is almost inevitable that the draft will be reinstated, so it’s a good time for draft age boys and girls take a look at what their in for.

3. “Casa de Los Baby’s” Great independent filmmaker John Sayles made this film down in Mexico and it never got a theatrical release, but Sayles is not always commercially viable, so it’s probably still worth a look. The film stars a rainbow of once young and sexy actresses who are no longer cast for their good looks like Daryl Hannah, Rita Moreno, Mary Steenburgen, and Marcia Gay Harden.

4. “Master and Commander: The Far Side Of The World” If this film would have come out any other year, without “The Lord Of The Rings” juggernaut, it probably would have been an Oscar winning classic instead of just the classic it already is. In two versions, single and double disc set.

In the top ten DVD purchase charts the remake of “Texas Chain Saw Massacre” is on the list twice: #3 in wide screen and #6 in full screen. The remake of a trash classic? We are very near the end of time.
