STBREAKING NEWS.

Rumsfeld Testifies.

From our New York World News Headquarters in New York, Here is Connie Chung.

CC: Good afternoon. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld is in the process of testifying to the House Of Representatives right now during a hearing on the prisoner abuse in Iraq. This comes after Rumsfeld testified earlier to the Armed Services Committee on the same case.

All of this comes while the war rages on in Iraq and Iraqi TV and other middle eastern TV outlets are presenting the testimony live and the Vatican issues a statement saying the abuses “offend God himself.”

Rumsfeld has apologized to the Iraqi people, the American people, and other peoples, and has taken full responsibility for the abuse.

Earlier, when asked did the Pentagon call CBS News to suppress the story on “60 Minutes II” before they aired the pictures, Rumsfeld took umbrage with the term “suppress”. The Secretary and members of the Joints Chief did say they called CBS News and asked them to delay the broadcast, not suppress it. Members of the panel did not buy that selection and still asserted that the military was trying to suppress news in the United States.

In an amazing display of candor, Rumsfeld stated to both hearings that with several investigations into the incident going on simultaneously, it is likely, in fact a fact, that there will be more cases of abuse, more pictures, and probably video of more abuse. He warned the committee’s that more shocking revelations are due. When asked if he would let them know what these were; the Secretary said he did not what they would be but did know they were out there.

Later the Secretary will attend a “Very Very Unbirthday Tea Party” followed by a hearing by the queen into an illegal croquet match.
