poetry explosion
Previous Entry :: Next Entry

Okay, all the poems are in for my chapbook, and I think all of the illustrations are done, weve been playing with layout and printing options...Im so excited! It looks like, so far, were going to do a straight black and white version for around $8 (32 pages, 14 poems, probably 9 illustrations, maybe more) and a limited edition version that is signed and numbered and has some interior color (4 of the illos in color, I think) for around $11 or $12 depending on printing costs. Its supposed to be available on October 10th, and itll be available directly from Sams Dot and from Project Pulp.

So heres the line-up, not in order... I know the poems, but dont quote me on the illos yet:

  • That Forgotten Grim(m) Magic
  • The Dance of Beltane Eve (reprint) (illustrated)
  • Trimming the Wyrd
  • Red (illustrated)
  • Swan Transformed (illustrated)
  • Death Do Us Part: Prenuptials (illustrated)
  • What Big Teeth You Have (reprint) (illustrated)
  • Beautys Truth (reprint) (illustrated)
  • Tripped Trap (illustrated)
  • Aarne Thompson Tale Type Breach (illustrated)
  • From the Ashes (reprint)
  • Would You Not Dance (reprint) (illustrated)
  • Rumpled
  • Endings

Also, the bio I wrote for this chapbook rocks, even if I do say so myself. Ill probably wind up putting it up on my site as my bio. This is going to be really cool... I really am disgustingly excited about it.

I got an acceptance yesterday from Scared Naked for a poem I sent them. Im glad they liked it, I was afraid it would be too dark fantasy for them, and if it was I wasnt sure what I was going to do with it--there comes a point in a poem where youve used words which mean most places wont accept it purely because of those words. Cock seems to be ones of those words. Nipple often seems to be another. At any rate, Pure White will be in the December 2002 debut of Scared Naked.

Also I got an acceptance in the first part of the month for a poem I sent to Outposts of the Beyond. I also sent out four poems for a UK poetry anthology Rhys Hughes is editing, well see if he likes them... (Thanks for telling me about it Michael. I wrote some really good poems for that, so the good thing is that if he doesnt take them then I shouldnt have any problems selling them elsewhere.) About a week after that I got a rejection for a poem from Strange Horizons. Ive also received a rejection from Dreams and Nightmares.

So I need to decide where to send the poems I dont have out already, and get several more written and sent out... And thats it on the poetry at the moment, I think. Ill chat at you kids more later.
