Skip around the Shipping Boy

It's another happy happy joy joy day, the kind of day that only comes after weeks and weeks of being tired and ill, when you're wearing a pretty skirt, sandals and your hair in two ponytails. I skipped around the shipping boy (Richard) today. I love the way ponytails bounce when you skip.

I'm thinking about going to the gym tonight. Part of me really doesn't want to, as I really want to take a walk in the neighborhood with Tim tonight (I didn't get out of the house once I was home last night, more's the pity), but I'm afraid I won't have energy for both (especially not after how tired I was after a long day of just work yesterday -- gah, I could do little but lay around, much like I did last week). But it's been over two weeks since I've been in the gym, and while no one could blame me since I was so sick, I'm still feeling like a slob and it's high time I get my ass back in there lifting weights. I'm pretty sure I'll feel really good for having made it in to the gym, too, so I should really go.

La!

Writing wise, I'm getting ready to print out the YA (which is half finished and I haven't touched since October) so I can read it and get back to work on it. I have a tentative goal to finish the draft by Wiscon. Last May I kicked ass on this thing, and spring seems a good time to have a long-term writing project. I'm looking forward to working on this one again; I hope I can match the writing style of the first half! Eep!

As far as short stories are concerned, let's see, I finished two stories last fall, and two so far this year, and of those four, two are in circulation (one was for a project I'm taking part in, so technically it's "sold" but since I'm still going to tweak it a bit before it goes to press, I'll just fudge and say it's "in circulation"). Of those other two, one I just recently finished (the pyro story, now titled "Immolation") and I have some good crits on it, so it needs to sit for awhile before I can tackle it again. So, that leaves (working title) "Gaia" and "Skatebirding" (which I wrote almost a year ago and still needs serious revision) as candidates for the story I submit to the Hidden City workshop. Tim strongly prefers "Gaia", and it appeals in that it needs little revision before I'm comfy getting more crits on it, but then again "Skatebirding" needs more help, I think, and might benefit more from a large group critique.

It's times like this I think a regular workshop might be good for me.

Anyway, that's my general, post-illness exercise and writing update.
