Busy busy busy! I hadn't even realized how much was going on in my life right now until yesterday when I burst into tears for hardly any reason. Gah. I was at work, too, which is about the worst place in the world to cry like that; I felt so foolish.

Anyway, things have been good in general, which is probably why I hadn't noticed the stress levels sneaking up on me. There was a Locus party on Saturday that was so incredibly fun. I mostly sat with folks my own age (we joked that it was the "kids table" though our median age was probably 30), though I did participate in a fabulous discussion about being in a writing couple with Karen Haber (Robert Silverberg's wife) and Tim. I really enjoyed chatting with her. I meant to chat up Nancy Farmer now that I've read some of her YA's, but funnily enough I am now almost too in awe of her to think of anything intelligent to say. Heh.

Sunday began with knocking on our front door, which I didn't answer because I thought it might be the landlady and no way was I getting out of bed before 10 AM on the weekend for anyone unannounced. Later I felt bad about this because it turns out that the neighbors who live in the basement apartment were having all the drains back up into their apartment -- AGAIN.

Since we couldn't use the water, we went out shopping all day long. I now have far more new clothes to wear at WorldCon than I could possibly wear in the time I'll be there; I was planning on changing for the evening anyway (I like to dress up at night at cons) but I went a little crazy, considering much of this will not fit a year from now. Anyway, we came home, crammed a day's worth of housework into three hours (I mopped most of the floor and did all the laundry), then collapsed on the couch.

Monday, I don't remember. I think that was the day the landlady called and left a message asking if we really needed the plumbing fixed because the house was on the market and it wouldn't be her problem soon and she didn't want to deal with it. I saved the message and need to change the tape so it doesn't get taped over; it doesn't get much more incriminating than that, man. I'm also kissing goodbye the hope that she'll fix the several broken windows that were there when we moved in; I'll just have to show the new landlords the walk through when they take over.

Sigh.

Tuesday morning I woke up to find the anti-bacterial ointment uncapped, on the floor, between the cats. They were reclining on the bathroom rug as if they were in an opium den, and Marzi's paw was pressing down on the tube. She licked the ointment, then Zanzi licked it, then she pressed a little more out. Little druggies. I took the ointment away and put their little catnip plant down for them to destroy instead. I swear they'll eat anything bitter, sharp, nasty or stringy, but they won't eat the new cat food. Go figure.

Last night I did some mending (including somewhat successful darts on my silk gown so it's not so damn baggy on me) and some housework. This morning I had two cavities filled (fun) and was so dizzy afterwards I had to stop and eat before I could make it to work. I thought I was going to pass out, and, having passed out before know better than to think that would be fun/ romantic/ dramatic and exciting.

And now it's now.

WorldCon is going to be busy. We have no meals free at this point, other than breakfast (as if we'll be up for breakfast!). Mostly, I'm Tim's arm-candy, but still it's exciting to have so much to do, so many people to see. It's also a bit stressful. I'm sure it won't be as bad as my mind is making it, and there will be lots of party time in which to see our friends. I don't know if I'm going to get to see any museums or see any local Boston people I'd hoped to see, though, which sucks. I wish I could've taken more time off to do this, but I just didn't have the vacation time saved up. Sigh.

I have many writing things that I want to be doing, but no time at the moment. I want to revise "Immolation", work on the YA (tentative title: Sienna's Summer), write a mini-epic, etc. It'd be nice to revise the story especially, since I'd love to have something going across Sheila's desk again soon. I'll probably bring my laptop to WorldCon and maybe work on stuff on the plane. I ususaly get fired up from cons, so I hope to work on the way home especially, unless I am too tired by that point.

Ta for now, kids!
