Good Things, Mostly

I swear, sometimes the only thing that reminds me to write a new journal entry is when I fall off j-walker. Bad Heather!

Have had some nice times lately, but I'll start with the bad shit, which is mostly from this morning. Not horrible, it was just one of those days where we were out of coffee, so Tim and I were both hella cranky, then when I got coffee at Peets (both beans and a cup) I managed to drip it down the front of my pale-blue shirt on the first sip. Sigh. Then in the elevator on the way up to work I got out my keys, pulling out a handful of change which scattered over the floor. When I stooped to pick up the change, my sunglasses and my hat fell off.

The only good thing that happened this morning was that I had my workout clothes, so I could change and wash out my poor shirt.

Work sucks ass at the moment, too, but I can't really go into it and it should resolve in about a week and a half, so it's bearable. I suppose.

On to better things.

Last night I got in a really nice visit with my mom. She helped me try the wedding dress on, and it was the first time I had someone to help me with it so I could see how well it actually fit. It sort of drove home the whole wedding thing, honestly -- it felt very right to have my mom helping me try the dress on and discuss options on how to let out seams if we had to, colors, trim, etc. Very traditional and cool. Mom agreed that the arms could be let out if need be, but then we realized that the straps are actually off the shoulder, which means that, although it's tight, they actually fit right now. So, I could wear the bodice tomorrow if I had to. In fact, with a good seamstress the whole dress could be made to fit me at the size I am currently, which is such a relief. Not that I don't plan to lose the rest of the weight I want to, but the pressure is lessened somewhat. Whew!

Holly and Aleister came by to pick up Mom and the three of them watched slideshows on my computer while Tim finished his amazing, delicious chili. Aleister is soooo cute! He clapped after the slideshow was over, miaow-ing at every picture of the cats (curses on the person who taught him "mi-aow" in lieu of his previous "mew mew mew mew!" which was slightly cuter). He ate the chili too, and everytime I took the water glass to refill it he'd look at me desperately and reach for it, his little eyes watering from the spicy heat. Still, he gobbled up the chili, which I thought was cool -- he liked the taste, even if it made him really thirsty.

Love my nephew. So damn cute.

This past weekend we went to Santa Cruz (the trip was planned before I knew Mom was going to be in town) and had a wonderful visit with Scott and Lynne. We talked about Hawai'i (& saw their pictures) and Tim and I are even more excited about our honeymoon (well over a year away, but still). It was a very relaxing weekend, and very fun. I bought a pair of dark blue maryjanes from Dansko, which make me feel very sassy, and a new cloth hat. We had many good meals, including one brunch at a Hawaiian place, a relaxing hot tubbing and lots of good card games (I love playing cards).I even tried to pick their (astro-physics phd getting) brains for ideas for "Skatebirding". Scott and Lynne are good people to visit for a fun, relaxing mini-break.

I think that's more or less it for now. Ciao!
