On Biting (with visuals)

Thanks to all of you who expressed sympathy and gave advice on the whole baby biting thing. You'll all be glad to know that he's pretty much stopped... I still watch him pretty diligently and won't nurse him if I'm not damn sure he's hungry (if we're going to pop a nipple in his mouth just "to see" it can be a silicone one, thanks). But even with me watching with a finger poised to pop him off, he's popped himself off a couple of times without biting, and so I'm slowly beginning to believe that he's not going to bite me again.

I should've been more clear about *how* he was biting, though. He wasn't clamping on and not letting go, oh no. He was clamping on, then pulling off without unclamping. This is how he scraped his way to bloodshed.

Want a visual? Here River demonstrates how he bites (don't worry, it's with a bottle, not me!):

Ow ow ow. You can see why I was so upset.

Now, I just have to internalize that he's not doing that anymore so I can save my very sore neck from looking down all the time!
