2004-04-28 12:11 PM I've seen the future... Mood: future-phobic Read/Post Comments (0) |
I am becoming more convinced that our society is becoming more and more like "Demolition Man". You know, "all restaurants are Taco Bell."
I went on Amazon.com today to look up a book and they have this letter about their new jewelry shop. Soon it will be- "all stores are Amazon.com." I am waiting for amazon to take over ebay... I hate this trend in retail. Sue me, but I like little shops where you can find one-of-a-kind things. I like South St., I like Greenwich Village, I like New Hope! It is getting impossible to survive as a small independant store. Chain stores are taking over! I am no better than all the other sheep- the fact that I needed to reference a book and I went to amazon is not lost on me. However, in my defense, it was to look up a book. Not to buy a tool or a piece of jewelry or whatever other nonsense they sell now. Just remember: "I've SEEN the future. Do you know what it is? It's a 47-year-old virgin sitting around in his beige pajamas, drinking a banana-broccoli shake, and singing "I'm an Oscar Meyer Wiener."
