Year's first shark bite off Daytona Beach Shores

DAYTONA BEACH SHORES - A Kentucky boy suffered injuries to both hands Thursday in the first shark bite of the year in Volusia and Flagler counties, police said.
The 8-year-old boy, whose identity was not available, was swimming in 3 to 4 feet of water behind a condominium in the 2900 block of Atlantic Avenue when he was attacked shortly after 6 p.m., said Sgt. Mike Fowler of the Daytona Beach Shores Department of Public Safety.
The boy was swimming with his family.
