Holy shnikes. Holy monkey. Holy crap.

I am in shock.

I got an email yesterday announcing my acceptance into Clarion for this summer! This is a big, big, big, big deal. Clarion is the most highly regarded science fiction and fantasy writers' workshop in the country. I am so excited.

And, I won runner up in Caitlin R. Kiernan's Name-a-Character contest with "Eulalia Bone", which means I get absolutely squat prize-wise. But it also means that I got mentioned in Caitlin's journal for the second time in as many weeks. Plus, Neil Gaiman has been referring people to Caitlin's journal to find out what happened to them on Sunday of the World Horror Con, which means that the thousands of people who read Neil's journal will head over to Caitlin's journal to hear the skinny, and then see my name at the end of her account. Then, when I start getting published, those same people will see my name and think, Now where have I heard that name? and maybe associate it with Neil and/or Caitlin and pick up that issue or anthology or novel. I guess that's a good consolation prize.
