Post-Mother's Day

I forgot to mention that I had a lovely day with my parents yesterday. I had sent flowers and Ghirardelli chocolates on Friday for Mother's Day, and she was very happy to get them since she rarely gets flowers anymore. Last year I wrote a poem called (ironically enough) "Mother's Day" the night before in a fit of muse-inspired loquacity, and it made her cry and hug me tightly. I was rather proud of myself for that. This year, what with job-searching taking up the majority of my spare time, I never got the time to write another poem like I wanted, hence the flowers and chocolates. I think I unintentionally raised the bar for my dad, present-wise. Sorry, Dad.

I'm listening to the Amelie soundtrack at work today, cycling it on an endless infinite loop. It really is quite fabulous.

Oh, and if you have yet to read American Gods, the paperback was just released. You have absolutely no excuse now. By the book. You'll thank me.
