Send In the Clones

I'm currently at home in my pajama bottoms trying to get over an incredibly upset stomach. I'm not exactly sure what I ate that disagreed with me so, since I really didn't each much of anything yesterday. Just one of those things, I suppose.

This weekend was rather fun. Friday night, I saw Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and was absolutely blown away by how good it was. I was praying it would be better than Episode I, and it truly was. Great story, great action, and though it relied heavily on CGI, it was integrated so smoothly that it became part of the story. I have to give Lucas kudos for this one. Saturday, I went down to Fuquay to visit my parents and sell some books to the new used-book store in the middle of downtown. To my pleasant surprise, she bought all the books I had to sell, and I bought of few of hers: The Thirteenth Annual Year's Best Fantasy and Horror, edited by Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling and The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen, both in excellent condition. That night, I stayed home and watched The Empire Strikes Back, and realized that Lucas had the bare minimum to do with that movie, with only Executive Producer and Story By credits. Sunday, I drove over to Chapel Hill and hung out with Jamie for most of the day. At one point, we went to Nice Price books in Carrboro, and I got a paperback copy of Ghost Story by Peter Straub for only two dollars.

I realized a couple of things today. First, Clarion is only three weeks away now, and I'm getting kinda frantic to find a new job, though Jamie brought up a good point that I could go to graduate school instead, where they pay your tuition if you become a TA. I didn't realize this before, but it's too late to apply for the fall. Maybe the spring, though. It's something I've been thinking about for a long time. And second, I've been writing in this journal for just over a year. I was looking through the archives this morning when it hit me. So happy anniversary to me!
