Today was a day of relaxation, sort of. After playing Mafia til 1 AM last night (or, technically, this morning) I slept in until 11:00, which felt fantastic. Got some lunch and started on another story, not the Beddgelert one, but an all-dialogue tale about the Greek myth of the Erinyes (a.k.a. the Furies, the Kindly Ones, etc.), and about a mob guy who unfortunately meets one of these otherworldly women. This will be a short short, and as it is all dialogue, I figure Terry Bisson (our next instructor, who arrives tomorrow) will be the most ideal teacher to look at it. He has written several of this type of story (including "They're Made of Meat", "Press Ann", and "Tell Them They Are All Full of Sh*t and Should F**k Off").

I'm excited about Terry coming tomorrow; he's been a favorite of mine for some years now, and it'll be nice to meet him in the flesh.

At 3:15, a group of us walked down to the Dairy Store on campus to get some home-grown and home-made ice cream. (MSU is a lot like NCSU in that there are a lot of working agricultural programs here. NCSU also has fresh ice cream daily, and it is also excellent.) We walked back a little different route along the Red Cedar River which runs through campus, checked out some cool grafitti art, critiqued some rusted metal sculptures that had fallen over, found some large feathers, and enjoyed the scenery.
