Today was Terry Bisson's last day as an instructor (though he doesn't leave until Sunday). We critiqued his story "Come Dance With Me," that he read at The Archive last night, along with our four other stories. Nobody jokingly laid into Terry like I was expecting; I was hoping for something like "I appreciate that you didn't attempt to bog us down with a plot in this story." That would have been funny, since he's been teaching us about plot all week. Oh well.

The rest of the day was pretty relaxing. Since we don't have the crit session tomorrow, we didn't have to read any stories today if we didn't want to. I got a catnap for about an hour, then went to dinner. The rest of the evening was a combination of drifting in and out of people's rooms and chatting, mixing drinks, playing Mafia (one game of which I was the Mafia and the sole winner!), and playing Cosmic Encounters (a really cool board game with little miniature spaceships). Of it all, I'd have to say my Mafia win was the highlight of my evening; I must be getting really good at lying to people. Hee hee.

Tomorrow morning (or, technically, later this morning) a group of whoever wants to go will ride down to the town of Mason (about 15 miles from here) to see an air show. An non-flying air show, like a car show. So I guess it would be just an airplane show. Yeah. Whatever. Anyway, Terry organized the visit, and I'm driving the car. We don't plan to stay long, just a couple of hours, which is good since I need to go to the mall to pick up a few things. After sitting in Liz's room today, which has all sorts of great homey touches, I realized how spartan my own room was. So I may get a few little posters or hangings to put on the walls. I also wanted to get the audio CD edition of Coraline by Neil Gaiman, which just came out this week.

And as it's now two in the morning, I will bid you adieu.
