One Day After the Summer Solstice

Today started off a little crummy. I was feeling really depressed and exhausted and a little left out of things, and I can't really explain why. I was down in the dumps, and couldn't find anyone to cheer me up. But then a big group of us went to see Minority Report this afternoon, and I felt a little better. The movie, which is Tom Cruise and Steven Speilberg's attempt at a Philip K. Dick story, was actually pretty enjoyable. There were a few plot holes, and some inconsistencies, and WAY too many in-movie advertisements, but on the whole I liked it. I'd recommend it to my friends, which I consider all of you out there reading this.

Afterwards, we went to a Chinese/Vietnamese place down on Grand River and had dinner, and I brought back two boxes with me: one full of the sweet and sour chicken that I couldn't finish, and the other full of the orange beef that Brendan couldn't finish. I won't have to go to the cafeteria for a couple of days now. I got a fortune cookie that read, "Stop looking forever; true happiness is right next to you," which seemed eerily appropriate to some things I've been feeling lately.

And speaking of the caf, though I have yet to see how horrible the food is, it is fairly monotonous, in that they tend to serve the same dishes over and over. But the seating area is very cool; there are plenty of plush booths and the walls are covered with prints of Impressionist paintings (Monet, Matisse, Van Gogh, etc.) It makes it a nice place to eat, but after a while, I need a little more variety.

We just had our first watergun fight out in the hall, a skirmish really, but it was fun. I busted out the super soaker and let fly. It was a good tension breaker and it got almost everyone out in the hall and laughing.

Well, it's ten o'clock now, and I have yet to read any of the stories for tomorrow, so I'm going to sign off. Hope you all had a nice Summer Solstice yesterday.
