I feel like such an idiot. I got a nap today after the critique session, since, for whatever reason, I was still exhausted after almost seven hours of sleep. When I finally got out of bed again at around 4:00, I got online to check my email, and looked at the paper calendar tacked to my wall, which was supposed to remind me that I had a conference with Patrick today at 3:00. So I ran down there and apologized profusely, and Patrick, gracious as he is, agreed to reschedule, even though all his other slots have already been filled. I'm such a moron. He was the one person here who I was most nervous about talking to, and who I wanted to present a professional image, and I totally missed our meeting. Guh. He's giving a talk tonight about the state of the publishing business, and we'll figure out a time then.

This morning was the first week of two that Karen Joy Fowler and Tim Powers are team-leading, this in the tradition of Damon Knight and Kate Wilhelm, who performed this function for a great number of years. Karen and Tim are here on the final third of the Clarion arc to ease us back into the real world, and help us produce the most publishable stories we can produce. These final two weeks will also be rather brutal.

Jim Kelly sent us an email for the rules of Thing, and Karen mentioned that she had played it before, so I assume we'll be playing it soon.

Now I need to go away and write some more in my newest story. I want to get it done in the next couple of days so Patrick will get a chance to see it before he leaves.
