"One Less" back in record time

I got back "One Less" yesterday from F&SF, which is phenomenally fast. I sent the story last Thursday, the rejection letter is dated Friday, and the envelope is postmarked Saturday. Which means that Gordon Van Gelder's assistant got the story Friday, opened it and read it immediately (Clarion has its advantages), decided it wasn't quite for him, wrote the rejection right then, and mailed it to me the next day. F&SF was already really fast with response times, but I guess I made it into a higher slush pile that warrants even quicker responses. I'm sending the story out to LCRW today, so that hopefully it gets to Gavin Grant before he and Kelly move to their new house in Massachussetts. And since I should be fresh on Gavin's mind from Trinoc-con I figured now would be a good time to send it to him. Wish me luck.
