Another giant in the SF world has fallen. Damon Knight died earlier this year, ironically, right before I went off to Clarion. And now, Charles Sheffield has died. He had been fighting brain cancer for some time now, and finally lost the battle this past Saturday. I haven't read much of Sheffield's fiction, but his collection Georgia On My Mind and Other Places was excellent. He was 67 years old, and is survived by his wife, author Nancy Kress.
