Had fun at the Lee Smith reading tonight. She read some great funny passages from The Christmas Letters and answered a bunch of questions and was very sociable and outgoing as usual. I went up and said hi and told her how much I enjoyed her readings; the last time I saw her was at the first North Carolina Writer's Workshop a few years ago, where she gave the keynote address, reading "Driving Miss Daisy Crazy", an essay about dealing with her Muse.

I also ran into Lucinda MacKethan from the English department at NCSU (who ran the aforementioned workshop, and has run the ones since), re-introduced myself, and told her about my coming next Fall to study for my Master's. We talked about the program and how they are trying to establish a Master of Fine Arts program (it's actually been approved, but it most likely won't be in place by the time I start).

And I was ecstatic to find out when I got home that the last present I'm sending to Janet (which I had to order online) arrived today. I got her a few other things, but this was the big present. I hope she likes it.

Now Reading:
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling

Stories Out to Publishers:
