I had to beg off work this morning because of a splitting sinus headache and the combination of many many nights of not enough sleep. I headed over to Roma's in Cary for lunch since I hadn't been there in a really long time (I went there nearly every day for lunch at my old job; fantastic subs and cookies so good they must contain heroin), and said hi to some old friends and filled them in with what was going on with me. It was nice.

If you're in the Raleigh area, 7:00 p.m. tonight at Quail Ridge Books is an NCSU English dept. extravaganza. Speaking will be John Kessel, Angela Davis-Gardner, Wilton Barnhardt (my novel-writing workshop professor), and John Balaban. They'll be talking about the creative writing dept. and why you should be a part of it.

As luck would have it, Cup-a-Prose is meeting at the exact same time at the Borders in North Raleigh (we've had to switch locations). But I'm not disappointed about missing it; I mean, they've already persuaded me to join the program, so I'm not sure what I'd get out of it, besides the chance to talk a little with the young Dr. Kessel again.

I may actually head over to Borders a little early tonight, get some work done on the outline. And I'll have to figure out how to set the timer on my new VCR to tape tonight's super-sized Friends. Man, life's been going a hundred thousand miles an hour for the last three weeks. I think that's one reason my body forced me to stay at home this morning.
