The tentative schedule for ICFA-24 is now up, and I figured out all the stuff I want to do:

Thursday
08:30 - 10:00 de Lint and Gaiman et al (This is when I'll be presenting "The Old Switcheroo")
10:30 - 12:00 Author readings (Ted Chiang)
12:15 - 02:15 GOH Lunch with Charles de Lint
02:30-03:30 Author readings (Greg Frost & Alexander Irvine)
04:00 - 05:30 Patterns of the Fantastic, Patterns in the Fantastic

Friday
08:30 - 10:00 Authors readings (Kij Johnson, Elizabeth Hand, Caitlin R. Kiernan)

04:00 - 05:30 Transference in Art and Literature
08:30 - 09:30 Ramsey Campbell, special guest writer
09:50 - 10:50 Musical performance by Charles de Lint and MaryAnn Harris
11:00 - 01:00 Conference party

Saturday
08:30 - 10:00 Creating Selves: Master, Slave, Warrior, Other
10:30 - 12:00 Speculative Genres: Gender
01:00 - 02:00 GOH Reading - Charles de Lint
02:00 - 03:30 The Darker Side of Mythos, Archetype and Patriotism
04:00 - 05:30 Authors readings (Andy Duncan, Kathleen Ann Goonan)
07:00 - 08:00 Cocktail hour
08:00 - 11:00 IAFA Banquet
11:00 - 01:00 Conference Party

I'm assuming I'll eat and sleep sometime in all that. I'll have to make sure I go to bed extra early Wednesday night so I'm not yawning through my presentation on Thursday morning. I'm wondering how many people will actually be at the 8 a.m. panel, so the more of you out there who might actually be going who show up at my reading, the better. It'd be nice to have some friendly faces in the crowd. Come one, come all!

This schedule could easily change too, as often happens at conventions. I also noticed that I'm the only one who's giving a paper on Neil Gaiman. That's kinda cool.

Got a phone call last night from Quail Ridge that Towing Jehovah, the World Fantasy Award-winning novel by James Morrow, had come in. Jim is doing a reading in a couple of weeks on the NCSU campus as part of the Guy Owen Reading Series. He'll be in room 029 of Winston Hall at 7:30 p.m. on February 27. One of the great things about having John Kessel on the faculty is the representation of sf in the reading series. If you're in the area, come on down. I'll be getting his book today so he can sign it.

And I've spent too much time on this journal today; I need to get on the novel outline. Hope you all have a groovy Saturday.
