Went over to Borders tonight after a dinner of roast pork lo mein, and on my laptop banged out the rest of my near-future pseudo-sf speculative Buddhist story, "Enlightenment". I came home, printed it out, and fixed a few tweaks. When I was done, the count was 2222 words. That has to mean something. Woo! It turned out much better than I was hoping, and I'm anxious to show it to my fellow Cup-a-Prosers. I'll let it cool on the sill tomorrow, then make any final changes and send it out to the guys.

As a reward after shutting down the laptop in the book store, I browsed for a bit, and saw the impressive number of books the current Dalai Lama has written. I ended up buying Michael Chabon's The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, which won the Pulitzer Prize, among many others. Guh, I need to stop buying books and read the ones I have, but so many good ones keep coming out. I'd like to implore the literary community to stop writing for a bit so I can get caught up with my library, but I'm fairly certain that won't happen. Sigh.

Heading over to my parents' house tomorrow to hang out and watch Sweet Home Alabama, which looks really funny. I'm also going to be borrowing their Time Life book on Buddhism, which may or may not influence my story. I've done a bunch of research already, but I'm really curious about Buddhism, so I keep reading. The hero of my novel has very Buddhist tendencies, so every little bit of research helps.

And for the first time in three weeks, I won't have to go to work on a Saturday, so I am sleeping the hell in tomorrow. Hope you all have a groovy weekend.
