For the last ten minutes, I've been skipping around the apartment and doing little dances, and generally going whee!! I heard from Ol' Mike Jasper tonight that my story "Enlightenment" made it into Intracities! Woohoo! This is the mysterious story I've been working on lately; Mike liked it originally except for the ending, which admittedly was rushed and not very good. I did a revision on Saturday and sent it to my lady for opinions, and she sent back a great list of what didn't work. I did a final revision tonight (though it may be the penultimate revision if Mike has some extra tweaks for the story), and sent it off. I'm so excited! I actually get paid for this sale! Yay me! Mike will be announcing the table of contents in the morning, and I can't wait to see who I share it with.

I did my writing tonight to the sounds of Hail to the Thief, the new album by Radiohead. There's a lot less electronic and computer-manipulated stuff on this album, and it's much more stripped down, very reminiscent of Pablo Honey. I've listened to it twice through already and like it a whole lot.

And I was going to try to work on the story last night, but a friend of mine at the day job had an extra ticket for the Carolina Courage game. I'd never watched a professional women's soccer game before, but I had a lot of fun. They played the Washington Freedom (Mia Hamm's team) and ended up winning 3-0. They've had a rough season so far (despite being champions last year), and this was the first home game that they've won. And I was there to see it. No flying backwards kicks, but it was pretty exciting.

So, this weekend I'll be getting together seven stories to mail out, and working on my Leviathan 4 story. After that's done, I'll need to start my submission for Polyphony 4. I feel a little crappy that I've temporarily abandoned my novel, but after the major overhaul the outline has gone through, I'll need a little time to think about it again. I'll be using it as my graduate thesis, so at least I have three years to get it done, though I hope to have gone through at least two drafts by then. The writing bug is back with a vengeance, baby!

Woo!
