I'm such an idiot. I keep forgetting to mention some big news.

Janet's and my fiancé petition has been approved!

The Department of Homeland Obscurity sent me a letter on Friday letting me know that the petition for the fiancé visa has been approved and sent to some visa center in New Hampshire for further processing. This is a big, big deal, and a big step that has now been accomplished. (Plus, they got back to me in five months, the minimum amount of time they said would take to process it, which surprised me; I was expecting more like six months.) After the folks in NH take two to four weeks to fondle the petition, or whatever it is they do, they send it to the American consulate in Singapore, who then sends Janet some paperwork, which she fills out then sends back, then they send her a few more forms and a date for the visa interview, then she goes to the interview and gets the visa. They sure make it hard, don't they? As it stands right now, we're still on track for having the wedding sometime in March (we're aiming for the 6th, since that's the first weekend of my spring break and we'd get to have our honeymoon right away).

Yay!

One big step down, a few dozen to go...
