but not this kind.

We leave for WisCon tomorrow morning, and I'm jumping out of my skin with excitement. Last night, we picked up a last-minute matte, and Janet assembled her final painting; she actually discovered after matting all the paintings she's bringing that she'll be over a bit on room, but hopefully the artist with the panel next to hers will be nice and let her share some space. We're getting final laundry done, and I'll pack tonight after getting home from work.

When I woke this morning, I discovered a small ache in my right sinus area, and am hoping it's not an infection or a cold. If so, the descent of the planes will be painful. But I'm taking some Sudafed now and will keep and eye on it. I've also been feeling under the weather since yesterday afternoon; something in the cheesburger I ate for lunch didn't agree with me, and still isn't. Maybe it was the fact that I ate a cheeseburger for lunch. All I've had to eat since then is dry toast and a few Wheat Thins. Janet is making sure to bring some ginger with us, and I'll try Barth's suggestions as well.

The job is going well, though it's been tough getting used to working an eight-hour day again. Everyone seems really happy to see me; they recognize the mad CAD skillz. I have my own office this time (which used to be the general manager's), and am making slightly more than I used to; I worked here for a year and a half before as a contractor and never got a raise, but now I can definitely justify one. The projects are coming in steadily, and I'm keeping busy.

My congratulations again to Dora and to Rachel for the difficult but ultimately successful births of their new babies. And to Barth and Sharon for selling recent fiction to some great venues.

Janet and I will supposedly be arriving in Madison at 12:30 tomorrow afternoon, though we won't be able to check in until 3:00. For those of you going, please walk up and introduce yourselves; many of you fellow journalers I only know online, and even photos can be misleading. We're nice people and good company. I'll be bringing my new iBook along, and may journal from the convention; if not, I'll provide a report when I get back.

This is going to be such a kick-ass weekend. I can't wait.
