Nonsense and Bullshit

You know, I like my job. I really do. It's a good place to work with good people and the work itself is very interesting.

But oh do I hate corporate games.

I just received my ninety day review. Yes, I've been here about 8 months. Feh.

My supervisor, a gem of a man in any other circumstances, prefaced his handing me of my review form with this: "Now, you have to remember this is for ninety days, and if I don't rate you low in the beginning, your yearly review won't show improvement and you won't get a raise."

You know, what the fuck? I understand that sometimes you have to play games with corporate human resources policies, but c'mon. Wouldn't it be better if we just rated people based on the actual job they are doing rather than having to double and triple think management logic? I rated twos and threes on a scale of one to five, one being unsatisfactory and five being outstanding.

That's bullshit. I'm one of the most competent employees in this office. The branch manager bounces problems off of me, looking for my judgement over that of anyone else in the office because she knows that I know my job well.

But, according to my supervisor, you have to play this game in order to get a good pay raise on the yearly review.

So, I have to smile and nod and play the game if I want to see a decent pay raise this year.

I fucking hate games.
