I left Tracy around 2:30pm (PDT). The drive wasn't too bad, but very long. And kinda boring. I took 99-South to 58-East, stopping only once for food -- about 237 miles. Lost cell phone contact over most of 58. Lost radio contact while the Cubs were still up 3-0.

Got to "Four Corners" which is the first something you get to after miles and miles of nothing. It was dark by then. I managed to pick up a few sports talk stations and heard about the fan incident, and that the Marlins had tied it up. The girl working at the gas station/convenience store had no idea which station the game was on.

Made it to Barstow, where I took I-15 North toward Vegas. Stopped at a place called Mollie's Kountry Kitchen (their spelling). Watched the last three outs with a bunch of plumbers who were rooting for the Cubs. Had dinner and decided to stay in Barstow for the night. Decent food, served by a waitress named Chrystal, who didn't care about the game.

Novel Dare Update -- Too tired to write anything. Actually, I was too lazy, and too excited about Bouchercon.
