Novel Progress

I went to the Dublin Barnes and Nobel cafe to write tonight...

Classics

I have enjoyed the debate begun by John Rickards about so-called classic books and movies. More can be read on many other blogs: Sarah, Dave, Jim to name a few.

I haven't come up with much to add so I have stayed silent on the subject.

However, I am reading some old classics this year. I'm curious to see what my impression is of books I was forced to read in high school and college, when I wasn't serious about reading or writing. I've started with 1984 (Orwell). I actually read this one on my own, for the first time in the year 1984. I enjoyed it then, and I am really enjoying it now. One novel that I didn't care for was All Quiet On The Western Front, so we'll see if I have a different opinion now that I'm older.

Short Story Idea!

There was something I experienced at Bouchercon which, I was thinking, might make a good story. I will have to change some names, and of course, add some kind of crime. And then write the damn thing. I've solicited the permission of the actual players in this debacle, and if they say it's okay, well, maybe it will get published somewhere.
