I was a little nervous about it after Jen's experience, but it went well. It was only Friday afternoon that I realized that my test was the next day. I'd totally forgotten about her instructions to eat mostly good carbs (whole grains, etc) for the 3 days before the test. I was supposed to eat nothing processed (anything that comes in a box) and nothing sugary. Christmas is a terrible time for that. Our office has been receiving tons of gift baskets and I'd had 2 brownies just on Friday before I realized about the test. Oops. At least I knew that if I failed the first screening, I'd get another one before being diagnosed.
Since I'm seeing a midwife instead of an OB, I didn't have to drink the nasty orange stuff. Instead, she had me eat 1 apple, 4 oz of apple juice, and 2 tsp of honey. Then, they did a finger prick test with one of those monitors that diabetics use to test their blood sugar every day. My glucose level was a 99 which my midwife said was great which was a relief. :) Read/Post Comments (4) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top | ||||||
