Baby fish

About 6 months ago, Marc got his first fish, a Betta fish. After awhile, I decided to get one of those algae eating fish to help keep the tank clean between cleanings. When I went to the fish store, those fish were in the same tank as these pretty red-orange fish, so I got one of those, too.

He had those 3 fish for awhile, but then the algae eater died, was replaced, and died again. I don't know what the cause is, but I don't want to do that again, so I gave up on that.

Then a few weeks ago, I was preparing Marc's bath and he was in the other room, looking at the fish. I hear him calling me excitedly, so I went in. "Look, Mommy! A baby fish!" And so there was. Two of them, in fact. Turns out the orange fish (a Platy) was pregnant when we got her! Platy fish are live bearers. I have no idea how many were born or when they were born, I only hope not too many were eaten. We have two survivors and they're now big enough (about 3/4 of an inch long) that they come out of hiding and swim around sometimes.
