really bothered me...

This morning at about 10, I heard a kid crying outside my house while I was working. It went on for about a minute and it had that note to it... if you're a mom you know what I'm talking about. It wasn't fit kind of crying it was that alone and scared kind of sound. I knew something was wrong and even though Marcelo just said "it's not one of ours" I went to investigate. It was a little boy, probably 3 or 4 years old, sitting on the sidewalk of the green area between my bank of condos and the ones directly opposite. No adult in sight. As I walked out to him, a woman came walking down the sidewalk towards me. It turns out she's the woman that runs the home day care down the way from me. I guess she had her eye on him, but wasn't going to do anything until she saw me. But I know her front door is a good 50 yards from where the boy was sitting. (Did I mention it was probably 60 degrees and a little drizzly out?) From what I gathered, she'd had the kids out and he'd fallen down then gotten upset and decided he didn't want to go in with her and the other kids. So she just left him. Who knows how long she would have left him if I hadn't come out.

It just really bothered me especially since she'd been one of the day cares I'd considered for my kids before I decided on the center around the block. I don't know if it's worth reporting but I know I'd be really upset if it were my kid.
