Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (3) Tonight, Marc was coloring a page he'd brought home from kindergarten where you color parts of a picture that are out of order then cut them apart and put them in order. It was a picture of a fire fighter and he said he didn't have a peach crayon. I asked why he needed a peach crayon and he said to color the fire fighter's skin. I suggested that he use a brown crayon instead cause some people, like Tata (his grandfather), have brown skin instead of peach skin.
He told me he couldn't. He had to use peach. I asked who told him that and he said his teacher said to color people peach color. I don't know if it's taken out of context since it's coming from a 5 year old, but it really bothered me that he got the feeling from his teacher that the only acceptable color to color a person was peach.
