Older girls and bullies

Marc is only in kindergarten and he's already having trouble with girls and bullying. *sigh*

There's a girl at his school that he's been talking about that he wanted to be friends with her. Turns out she's in 3rd grade. I don't really know if this is a problem or if she considers him a friend or what, but kids in his own kindergarten class have been teasing him about it. He told me this morning that during recess (the only time of day different grades are together) some of the kids in his class were saying that she's his girlfriend and telling him where she is all the time and pushing him down.

I told him that if they're pushing him, he should walk away and go tell a teacher. It made me so sad that he said that when he tries to run away, they chase him and push him down. Marcelo told him then that if they chase him and push him, that he should defend himself and push them back then run to a teacher. It's the first time I've agreed with Marcelo's suggestions to him to respond with physical force.

It doesn't help that he's the shortest in his class and probably will be for a very long time. I remember being teased mercilessly and being pushed around for being short and I fear for him about that.
