I called the pharmacy for a refill on my Imitrex today, prepared to spend $150 again. And yes, I have insurance. My insurance gives me a 40% discount on brand name drugs.

The pharmacy told me that they were sorry but they didn't have any of the generic in stock, would I like them to check another CVS nearby to see if they had it in stock.

Generic?!?!?! Oh, Happy Day! :D :D :D This is the day I've been waiting for since I got my first expensive prescription (which, by the way, is worth every penny) 8 years ago. And then another realization. My insurance covers generics with a copay instead of a discount. $15. $15! For a life changing medication that used to cost me at least $150 at least once a month!
