#1 looked up word online for 2005

Based on merriam-webster's online dictionary and thesaurus at www.m-w.com, the number one looked up word for 2005 was:

1. integrity

Pronunciation: in-'te-gr&-tE
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English integrite, from Middle French & Latin; Middle French integrité, from Latin integritat-, integritas, from integr-, integer entire
1 : firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values : INCORRUPTIBILITY
2 : an unimpaired condition : SOUNDNESS
3 : the quality or state of being complete or undivided : COMPLETENESS
synonym see HONESTY

I can only assume none of the currently reigning republicans were the ones looking up that word.

snicker snicker

no, truly, it's very interesting to see the entire list of ten words that were most looked up. it is a little slice of our 2005 history:

2. refugee
3. contempt
4. filibuster
5. insipid
6. tsunami
7. pandemic
8. conclave
9. levee
10. inept

I know that filibuster and tsunami were also related to the government and national events, but I also highly suspect that "insipid", "contempt" and "inept" might be presidentially related....

okay, enough busting balls for today.
