It's all about the baggage on the table

I've been thinking recently about my interactions with people.

I kind of had a spotlight turned on my work relations this week by having had a managee under me tell me I was "blunt and aggressive" a few days ago, and yesterday had a different one tell me I was "wonderful and funny and so nice".

Sheesh!

I mean, I had coffee both days, and it was 5:30am shifts both times. So it wasn't a time of day or lack of caffeine thing.

Every once in a while I get that reminder that the world I'm experiencing isn't the same one the people around me are experiencing.

It's all relative, isn't it? We're all bringing our own baggage to the table and can't help interpreting other's words and actions in the context of our own baggage.

Why do I keep forgetting that?
