Flames on the side of my face

I now officially hate HTML and style sheets.
I'm trying to get all of the JournalScape templates to look the same in Netscape 4.x, 6.x, 7.x, IE 5.x and IE 6.x...
Things for the most part are moving along swimmingly... except for the table that refuses to be centered if I remove the bold tag from the text inside it. W T F!
Making text bold shouldn't affect it's position on the screen.
You know what the best part is? The table gets centered (that's what it's supposed to do), if I have a bold tag at the beginning of the text, but if I add the ending bold tag at the end of the text, it doesn't get centered anymore! ARGH!
How stupid can Netscape 4.x be?
