Herding cats...

I've had a few more opportunities recently to get used to teaching at the dojang. A new whitebelt started up and Do Joo Nim asked me to teach him the basic stuff he needed to know, like bowing, customs, the basic stances, etc. It was fun, he was very nervous but I thought he took to the information very well.

... and then there was the Tae Soo Do kid's class on Saturday. We have two instructors to usually run the children's class (about 20-25 kids between 4 and 10 years old). Well, one of the instructors has been unavailable the last two weekends so Kyle and I have been asked to help out because it is impossible for 1 person to wrangle 20 hyper kids and get them to focus at all. "Herding cats" is the only proper term to describe the attempt to give order to such a chaotic environment. Some of the kids are very sharp, pay attention, are generally good students. Some of the kids aren't even existing on the same plane as the rest of us. They are completely mentally vacant... it's a shame. When I would point and say, "Look over there," they would look at the tip of my finger. *shakes head* Herding cats...
